The Steynberg Gallery is a old architectural gem.  It was originally the Farmer Brother’s Coffee Building, built in the 1930’s.  A simple Art Deco design.  Who knows what happened to the original front door, but it’s long gone.  The building had a solid wood door when Peter Steynberg purchased the building so he had the center cut out and a piece of plain glass installed.  I made Viento for Peter to compliment the Art Deco style of the building and to reawaken the entrance.  It works.  It rocks.  And Peter loves it.

Each architectural piece is made from a monolithic sheet of 0.25″ (6-mm) thick architectural glass which has been shaped in a furnace at very high temperatures. The contour depth of a panel can be as much as 1.5″ (30-mm). The color of the panel is the color of the glass used.

The panels are mono-prints or made in very limited numbers as part of a series. All works shown on this site have been sold, but there are some artist proofs and unfinished series works available.
