SCULPTURAL WORKS

  1. Glass thickness:  single panel, 0.25″ (6 mm)

  2. Maximum depth of design: 1.5″ (30 mm)

  3. Maximum possible size: 34″ x 76″ (86 cm x 193 cm)

Outline colors and back surface paints are glass enamel paints. While they are not weather resistant, they are extremely durable in interior environments.

Decorative Frames

The frames are held to the wall using a welded “J”-shaped plate that is screwed into the wall. When mounted, no fasteners are visible. The frames are angle steel with a black wrinkle powder-coat finish. The glass is held to the frame with custom-fabricated, polished aluminum brackets designed by the artist. In the frame, the glass rests on standard black neoprene spacers. Frames have a continuous black velvet backing behind the glass.

Tempering

All panels are temperable. Panels are formed in the studio and then tempered in an industrial facility. The tempering certification stamp is in the lower right hand corner of the glass below the artist’s signature. In the tempering process the glass is taken from room temperature to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit and back to room temperature in 7 minutes. This makes for a very hard and secure piece of safety glass.

Tempered panels can be mounted in standard wooden doors and window frames for use in architectural installations. A slight amount of bow and warping may be present around the perimeter of the panels due to the tempering process, yet each panel is well within federal standards for glass of this size. Edge irregularities are normal.

Design

Panels used in architectural installations are typically custom designed for a particular project. Many variables are involved which are best addressed on a project-to-project basis. Occasionally there are duplicate panels available from a project or artist proofs available for sale. Typically, these panels are shipped as an individual piece of glass and then set in custom-made doors that are then professionally installed. If you prefer, they can be shipped as an entire door.
